Shining a Light on Warriors

What seems impossible today will one day become your warm-up.

As many of you know, this year we decided to shake things up and bring you something a little different for our annual July event. Instead of our traditional Run for Hope 5k, we brought you a 5k obstacle course, traditional 5k, kids’ run, and sunrise yoga through our first annual Warriors for Hope! And let me tell you…it was AMAZING! We laughed, we cried (mostly tears of joy!), we ran, we slipped, we crawled through the mud - in other words, we fought to the finish and our participants more than rose to the occasion.

Just check out these awesome snapshots from HSP Imaging!

Every single one of our participants was a rockstar, and we were thrilled to see so many people come out for the first year of this brand new event. If you missed it this year, don’t worry - Warriors for Hope will be back in 2024!

As much fun as the entire day was, my favorite part of this event was an incredibly special and unexpected interaction I had with a past grant recipient. It’s been several years since we awarded a grant to this woman and her family, and in that time we hadn’t heard from her or seen her at any Fund a Life events. I honestly wasn’t sure she really knew where the grant came from. And that’s okay!

But it turns out, she did know where the grant came from. And even though it had been years since she received it, she never forgot about Fund a Life or the impact that we were able to have on her life, thanks to the support of our donors and partners. She told me how much of a difference the Fund a Life grant had made for her during a very dark time in her life, and how happy she was to be able to support our mission at Warriors for Hope.

She said it felt like a full circle moment - the way our grant had given her the strength to overcome the overwhelming obstacles she was facing her in life, and today she could metaphorically overcome those obstacles one final time, on the obstacle course for Warriors for Hope.

The chance to stand with this warrior, be reminded of her story, and see the difference we were able to make for her life thanks to YOUR support was more powerful than I can put into words.

I share it with you today to remind you of the impact that you have every time you support our mission - when you donate, when you attend or sponsor our events, when you share our story with your network of friends, family, and colleagues. These small acts create BIG movement in the lives of people in need right here in our community.

Feeling inspired? GOOD! Because we’ve got another fantastic event right around the corner, and there’s still time to get involved!

Our 4th Annual Scramble for Hope is taking place this September 18th, 2023 at Oak Pointe Country Club. We’ll be hitting the links on both Champs and Honors, and there’s still time to register your foursome.

What could be better than a day on the course, for a great cause? How about lunch at the turn? You got it! Happy Hour admission? It’s yours! FREE DRINKS ON THE COURSE?! You bet!

You read that right! Registrations for all foursomes include lunch at the turn, admission to our post-event Happy Hour, and free non-premium alcoholic and NA beverages throughout the round. What are you waiting for?!

And if you’re not a golfer, no sweat - you can still support us! We have plenty of sponsorships available, and we’re also looking for silent auction/raffle gifts and prizes. Learn more about sponsorships and raffle donations here.

We can’t wait to see you on September 18th. And don’t forget, there are always ways to support us in between major events. You can:

  • Donate to the mission: You can donate once, or if you want to ignite even MORE hope, you can become a recurring donor! Every single dollar counts - every donation matters.

  • Volunteer your time: Ask any of our current volunteers and they’ll tell you what a blast we have behind the scenes. Get in on the action as a volunteer!

  • Share our story: If you can’t donate time or money, believe us, we understand. But you can still support Fund a Life with your words - tell your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and even strangers on the street about Fund a Life, and our mission of igniting hope by funding lives. Follow us on social media and share our posts; forward our emails on to everyone you know; and cheer us on whenever you can. We feel your love, and it makes a difference!

And no matter what you do, make sure you never forget to…
