Meet The Prout family

Larry Prout Jr. was born with multiple medical complications and wasn’t expected to survive but he has spent his life defying the odds. Through hundreds of surgeries and years of challenges, Larry’s courage and optimism have inspired everyone around him, from his teammates on the University of Michigan and Pinckney football teams to the many families he supports through volunteer work.

With one of our largest donations ever, the Fund A Life team was able to provide the Prout Family with a new, handicap-accessible van. Not only did this provide the family with a newfound sense of independence, but it allowed them to transport all of the medical devices and equipment to over 100 surgeries and doctor appointments.

Larry also uses that mobility to volunteer, speak to incoming medical students, and serve as a Hope Ambassador at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, spreading encouragement wherever he goes.
