SHINING A LIGHT

Meet Bennett Salisbury

At Fund a Life, we meet families in the midst of life’s most overwhelming storms—and still, stories like Bennett’s stop us in our tracks.

Just five years old, Bennett is facing an unimaginable battle: cancer. And while he fights with the strength of a warrior, his family is fighting alongside him—physically, emotionally, and financially—every single day.

In the span of just one year, this family has experienced back-to-back life-altering events. First came the early and traumatic birth of their daughter Kennedy. Due to pregnancy complications, her mother was placed on bed rest in May 2024 and later rushed into an emergency C-section. Kennedy was born at just 34 weeks, spending three difficult weeks in the NICU on a CPAP and feeding tube before finally being strong enough to come home.

But there was little time to breathe. Soon after settling into life as a family of five, Bennett was diagnosed with cancer. His treatments have been intense. The hospital visits are constant. The emotional and financial toll is relentless.

Since May 2024, Bennett’s mom has been out of work—first due to her high-risk pregnancy, and then to be by her son’s side during treatment. Now relying on a single income, their family has struggled to keep up with daily expenses, medical bills, and travel costs for hospital visits.

One of their biggest burdens? A van with over $10,000 remaining on the loan. Paying it off would eliminate a major monthly expense and bring their family the stability they desperately need—freeing up financial resources for Bennett’s care, gas for hospital trips, and everyday necessities for their three children.

And that’s where you came in.

Through this grant from Fund a Life, we lifted this weight and give this family the gift of peace of mind. This isn’t just about financial relief—it’s about hope. It’s about helping a family focus on what truly matters: supporting their son through cancer treatment, caring for their newborn daughter, and healing together as a family.

Hope, to them, looks like a future where Bennett is cancer-free. Where their family has made it through. And where one day, they can be the ones to lift up others facing the same battles.
