SHINING A LIGHT
Meet Beau
Grant Delivered: December 2025
From the moment he arrived, Beau carried the title of miracle baby. His parents, Kayleigh and Danny, had spent years dreaming of becoming parents, and when Beau was born, their hearts felt full in a way they had long hoped for. But almost immediately, their joy shifted into a season of intense uncertainty.
Shortly after his birth, Beau was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, along with DORV and VSD, a serious congenital heart condition that require intricate and risky medical intervention. At just six days old, Beau underwent open-heart surgery. Eleven days later, he required a heart catheterization procedure. As doctors continued investigating, genetic testing revealed Trisomy 4p, adding yet another layer of complexity to his medical journey.
Beau’s early days were marked by constant challenges. After weeks of complications, his family received news no parent is ever prepared to hear: Beau was being discharged with hospice care at only 41 days old, with an expected lifespan of less than six months.
But Beau, a name that means “beautiful”, has lived up to it in every way. He has continued to grow, fight, and defy every expectation placed before him. Through steady therapies, attentive care, and the unwavering love of his parents, Beau has pushed far past his original prognosis. Today, his care team is hopeful he may reach 18 months. Each day he is here is another reminder of his remarkable resilience.
“This means I can work less overtime… and spend more time with my son while I still can.”
-Kayleigh
Because of his complex medical needs, Beau requires full-time support, leading Kayleigh to remain home to care for him around the clock. Danny has taken on overtime shifts to help keep their household afloat, often sacrificing the precious time he longs to spend with his son during this fragile and irreplaceable chapter.
When Fund a Life connected with Beau’s family, Danny expressed a sentiment that stayed with all of us:
“This means I can work less overtime… and spend more time with my son while I still can.”
Beau’s story is one of courage, devotion, and the power of community support. It is a reminder that sometimes the greatest gift isn’t something we can hold; it’s the time we are given with the people we love.
Through the generosity of supporters and the mission of Fund a Life, families like Beau’s receive relief, stability, and the chance to focus on what truly matters: being together.
When we delivered this grant, Kayleigh said through tears that it meant hope for their future.
